Just curious: I have read a lot of stuff from the Villanova forums and many there feel very strongly as to the quality of academics there. Some there have said it is (at least) the equal to Lehigh. I voiced my disagreement but wondered what Lehigh folks think; In your views, is Villanova equal to or better than Lehigh in general academics? bussiness? engineering?

I’m a ChE undergrad at Lehigh, but I also applied to Villanova back when I was a high school senior. I definitely don’t think it’s right to say Villanova is on par with Lehigh academically. Whenever I visited, there was an ad nauseum focus on community service and diversity - not much mention of academics, which ought to be the most important thing.

I can tell you from the perspective of an engineer that Lehigh is far superior to Villanova in terms of engineering curriculum and opportunities. I visited Villanova three times, I was never presented with the option of talking to professors or exploring their chemical engineering department. I also found that their engineering facilities seemed smaller and older as compared to Lehigh - and they have no co-op program, unlike Lehigh.

In terms of business or general academics, I’m afraid I can’t say much. Villanova is a good university - it’s just not a top engineering school. I might be wrong when I say this, but I always think of Villanova as a good pre-law or liberal arts school.
