LEMONS!!! help me with decision!!

Ok now that i understand a little more of the application process i have been wondering about a couple of things
right now I am a junior and i am in honor classes
H. Physics
H. Calc
H. British Lit.
US2
Accounting
Morality

but i have no AP classes at all, even though my school does offer one to juniors( AP US2, which i did not take because I'm with the seniors in Calc which was at the same time as the AP, juniors take pre calc I'm the only exception so I gave it up)
I'm also taking one class at the private college near my school( Concepts of Biology)
My sat right now with no additional prep will probably be around the 1850-1950 range and I have atleast a 3.9+ gpa(unweighted) probably 4.0+ weighted and will the lack of APd have an adverse affect on me and if it would i can definitely self-study for APs and probably get decent scores(3+ unless I'm being too cocky about my skills) i also take classes at a private college near my school so maybe that would balance the lack of APs,

So I just want to now at this moment is it better for my chances for me to start prepping for the SATs and get my score up to the minimum threshold for asians or should i self study APs and how many and then worry about the SAT in summer/senior year?
I want to apply to ivy and other good colleges although its an uphill battle.

SAT, without a doubt.

any reasons in particular?

SATs? I am actually in a very similar situation, and would like to know in which area I should use my time, self-study AP’s, or study the SAT’s?

Well, yes. Your projected SAT scores are OK, but they simply aren’t competitive for the Ivies or their peers unless you’re 6’10" and have a killer jump hook. With those SAT scores, your application won’t get to the full committee at Yale or Stanford, let alone through it.

Lack of APs is not a problem if your high school doesn’t offer them. You have a perfectly valid academic reason for not having taken the one AP you could have. Colleges will read your transcript and your school’s profile (the school will send that when they send your transcript and your Secondary School Report), and they will assess your grades and the rigor of your course load in the context of your school.

At highly selective colleges, if you had a lot of high AP scores, that might help distinguish you from some other applicant who had good grades and high SATs or ACTs. But AP scores will definitely not erase low SAT scores.

Even then, I’m not completely sold on APs. I am personally highly skeptical about the value of “self-studying” for APs in college admissions, but I don’t have any actual evidence that it’s worthless. It certainly makes me think AP classes and AP tests are…of limited value. Can they really compare to a college class if a 17-year-old with nothing but a Princeton Review prep book and a four-day weekend can score a 5?

Agree that the SAT is more important.

Taking college courses (and doing well in them) will at least partially make up for the lack of AP classes. And since you’re planning on applying to selective colleges, your current projected score is low, you should be aiming for at least 2100+.

IMO you should prep for the SAT, do well in your jr year PSAT, sit the SAT early in jr year (Oct - Jan), and retake in May/June of jr year if necessary. Sr year is late to start taking the SAT, you’ll be busy with applications and classes.

x-posted w/Sikorsky

The other thing to consider is the ACT. You may want to try a practice ACT and see if you will do better on the ACT than the SAT.

What is “honors calculus”? The usual “harder” calculus courses in high school follow the AP BC syllabus, while the usual “easier” calculus courses follow the AP AB syllabus.

I think its the ab curriculum without the AP test to make it less stressful for students I dont know why they did that even though all the kids in the class are competent (they already took the ab calculus class in college and most have 2000+ SATs with high math I & II sat 2s)
And yea i was thinking about taking the ACT in September maybe spring to see if i do good. Right now I have two SAT IIs done, Math I and II(730 and 800 respectively)
I plan to take my other sat IIs in may,bio and ush, and use the AP books i bought to study for them(AMSCO and Cliffnotes Bio) and take the SAT in june its too late for me to get an early test in because im already a junior -_-
