I use my AP Stats class as study hall also, but I usually go and just do homework in the back of the room. It's a 70-person class so it's taught college lecture style, and it's pretty easy to do anything from homework to music to sleeping in that class without getting noticed.

I wish we'd each get a personalized note from the adcoms telling us why we were accepted/deferred/rejected (I mean, they spend so much time reading it, why not do this). I guess it wouldn't be that much help, but it would just be interesting to see how you came across through your application.

sigh, i'm just trying to tell myself i have no chance, "what the heck was i thinking sending my application." and concentrating on columbia and how good of a school that is, "ah, i love columbia!" so that when that letter comes in the mail from stanford, i'll either be sadly resigned or the happiest man alive.

At this point, I really hope I get deferred. It will be like a second chance. Do you guys know if deferred students get to turn anything extra in, other thank the counselor's report? Cuz I'll have a sweeeeet research project for them.

waiting is terrible. but better than outright rejection.

I just looked over my essays after setting them aside for almost 2 weeks, and they sssssssssstink! :( I can't believe I actually liked them back then. I used the word "evening" twice in a sentence.

and the funny thing is when you go back to November/December 2004 or so and look at the people fretting about it, then look up their fates on that decisions roster...shudders. It's eerie, like looking at those shadows on the walls in Hiroshima and Nagasaki: you start to wonder 'what were they thinking at the time?', 'did they know this was coming?', etc...

Guys... if you havent read about Andi's son... I suggest you find that thread and do so...about a near perfect candidate who got rejected from all of his schools.

I am no longer worrying about getting into stanford... that will not happen. I am now working on about 4 more safety apps.

Good luck man, I hope things go well for you. I can completley see how you can hate Davis though. Seriously. I'm not a big fan of the way that Davis is set up.

it's way too bland. which is fine while i'm still in hs, but i imagine would get quite annoying in college. there's really nothing close by of value.

I've been pouring all my efforts into my USC and Santa Clara apps to keep my California dream alive. I do not want to be stuck in MD for the next for years. Or anywhere on the East Coast - since I invariably picked schools that were north of here. I've realized that I'm completely tired of the cold.

I'm in at one safety school - at least I have somewhere to go in case the **** hits the fan.
