Let It Snow

Applicants to Notre Dame are a smart bunch, so you're probably all familiar with Lake Effect snow and the fact that Our Lady's University receives generous amounts of snow because of its proximity to Lake Michigan. Northwestern Indiana was treated to a nice blanket of the white stuff today.

If you're coming to Notre Dame from one of the sunny and warm parts of these United States, you might remember to bring (or buy) a heavy coat; Notre Dame's area forecast for this afternoon calls for 6" to 12" or snow accumulation, near whiteout conditions in some areas from blowing snow, and wind chill temperatures around 6 degrees.

Let the snowball fights begin!

Are there any places to go sledding on campus?

My son will be happy! We got hammered in the St. Louis area, where we never do, and he was grumbling because all they got last week up there was rain. My daughter referred to it as snow envy <g>...</g>

I have a hunch we'll be getting some snow swaggering pretty soon.

Let the snow football begin, too... I wonder if he'll have the sense to wear his gloves? Guess what I don't see can't hurt me!

The FIghting Irish will have great snowball fights?
Hmmm...now that I think about it, how come in recent years I have only been hearing you guys referred to as "the Irish"? Was the word fighting deleted for some PC reason, or is my imagination?

i want snow

My buddies and I just went sledding...it's amazing how quickly you can improvise a sled from simple materials in the dining hall..........

Hope you didn't use the forks! :)

(Kind of like running with scissors :))

there are awesome places to ski, but they're a secret =P

downhill or cross country, red?

I give up. Where do you guys sled at ND? It was pretty darn flat when I was there :)

The earth itself was flat when I was there :)

@PutschCasusBelli- where did you guys go sledding? I am now properly equipped (courtesy of South Dining Hall...), but have yet to find a suitable hill anywhere...

shellzie....... long time no see.... its good to have other current domers heree

Hey Shellzie, welcome. Can I ask you if you know of any students who didn't have awesome SATs but got in for other reasons like GPA, great essay, recs, ECs, etc? (Not recruits or legacies or URM.) Still trying to determine if D's efforts were a waste of time. Thanks.

Lol sorry I haven't been around much lately, chillin, studying for finals has been eating up all my free time lately. But only five more days and I get to go home!!! I think there are a few people around with less than stellar SAT scores who got in because of other factors, but I'm not really sure because I haven't really discussed SAT scores with anyone down here. I know of a couple people on CC who said they got in with low SAT scores- but they may have had hooks. Sorry I can't be much more help, I'm sure your daughter's efforts were not a waste of time! Good luck!

See,,, the problem with that is...... "low" sat scores on CC range from like 680-770.......... and im serious some kids in the sat section are dissapointed when the get 770s........... no joke

DDJones, you graduated from ND. Can you enlighten us please, as to where one goes sledding? Or is it such a big secret because it is forbidden in that particular area? :)
