let me explain...

I recently posted a thread about which was harder to get into, Stanford or Pomona college. I applied ED 2 for Pomona and RD to Stanford. Recently I received a letter from stanford that said I was being admitted early from the RD pool of applicants. I did not think I would get into Stanford so I quickly rushed my app for pomona for early decision 2 (i didn't even get an interview). But now that Ive gotten in at stanford with a very generous financial aid package (almost a full ride), I don't know what to do. If I get in at pomona its a binding contract so I have to go. Do you think I would receive a better education at Pomona since its smaller because I plan on going to med school afterwards (although Stanford is so freakin prestigious)? Which offers a better education that would prep me for med school, and would it still be possible to back out of ED 2?

Wow, your situation is quite unusual! If I were you, I would try to rig the Pomona app somehow so I would definitely get rejected by Pomona since you've already been accepted by Stanford! Congrats on your impressive achievement! Would you mind posting or pm-ing your stats so I can get a rough idea of how exceptionally talented you are and what chance I have of getting accepted by Stanford.

let me say this simply: go for stanford
why? because practically everyone who applied there got rejected or deferred.
do not lose this chance- seriously

daaaaaaaaaaang wish we could all be in this situation... if there's still time i'd call pomona and ask to move your app to rd, that way you can still compare later on... a near full-ride to stanford, and even just stanford in general, is difficult to turn down.

If Stanford is your first choice, call Pomona ASAP to either rescind your application or move it to RD. Because they haven't yet sent out ED2 decisions, they will probably let you do that-- it's probably a better plan than sabotaging your application ;)
Congratulations on getting into your first choice!

First of all, congratulations on receiving an early acceptance letter from Stanford! It's a wonderful feeling to be wanted, and wanted so badly. If Stanford is, indeed, you first choice, you should contact the Pomona admissions office and withdraw your application entirely and not go the RD route. Why take someone else's place for the sake of saying you got into Pomona?

On the other hand, it sounds as if you're not entirely convinced that Stanford is the place for you. In that case, then call the Pomona admissions office and switch your app to RD.

Good luck with your decision!
