Lets be real here....chances for a hopeful !!

<p>ok i think im going to be applying early to wharton, and i want an actual idea if i have a shot...</p>

<p>white male, upper middle class, NJ, very solid school district</p>

rank: 3/345
GPA (weighted): 4.33 (total of 4 B's through junior year, all weighted classes)
SAT I: Math 800, CR 700, Writing 800 = 1500/2300
SATII: Math2 800, US Hist 560 (obviously bad, but will be taking physics in october and should be around 700)</p>

Little League Umpire 4 years
Intern with Hotel management last summer
Working at an asset management (investment) company this summer</p>

1. President, VP of Communications (2 yrs), VP of Community Service, Senior Chair for local BBYO chapter
2. Pres, VP foreign affairs club
3. Secretary Darfur club
4. Town's strategic planning committee (restructured honors program for district)- decently important
5. JV tennis 3 years</p>

<p>--Volunteer--
Sheriff's community service award for volunteering with underprivileged children...spent maybe 60 hours working with these kids the past 3 yrs...also participated in NYC Darfur rally, breast cancer walk in NYC, relay for life
also spent 2 weeks last summer doing community service in Wisconsin (30 hours)</p>

<p>i should have pretty good recommendations (one from superintendent of my school district), and also pretty solid essays</p>

<p>i'm also in NHS and Spanish Honors Society- as for AP's, ive taken Stat, Calc AB, US Hist, and Physics- i got 5's in stat, calc, and hist, didnt take phy.- i'll be taking four more senior year
idk if that stuff makes a difference, but w.e</p>

<p>you've got a decent chance at wharton, i'd say either deferred or accepted early, make sure to highlight your leadership. you've got the calculus background and math stats. make sure that your other SAT II is above 700, preferably around 750 though, so that way you've got no holes. also the essay is really important so spend time perfecting that so that the style isn't too arrogant nor does it shy away from expressing your accomplisments/special traits. good luck.</p>

<p>mant-- thanks alot for the thoughts. yea math is my strongest academic area, so i hope the physics test isnt too bad. my essays for business school are going to be oriented around my leadership positions and summer internship at the investment firm, which was a great expereince</p>

<p>unweighted through junior year it's about 3.83 (i take 8 classes a day not including lunch, but including gym which counts as part of my GPA at school- fresh year i had 2 b's in honors history and honors math, soph year i had one B in honors english, and junior year i had one B in honors spanish)</p>
