i have to face the reality and stop living in fantasy world..
I was gonna apply to Brown, Cornell, Tufts, Upenn, Bryn Mawr, Boston College, NYU, Binghamton, and Stonybrook. However, if i don't get into Columbia ED, then why should the first 4 schools i mentioned accept me? i'm obviously underqualified.. so, that means i have to bring down the level of colleges i'm looking at. But i don't know any colleges! those are the ones my counselor suggested to me!! i've been so infatuated with Columbia that i neglected to research any other schools...and now, it's a huge problem. give me some suggestions!

Brown, Cornell, Tufts, And Upenn all have much higher acceptance rates than Columbia. They are all easier to get into. Columbia is as hard to get into As Yale, Harvard, Princeton, MIT, Stanford. The other schools are easier to get into, acceptance-rate wise.

hmmmmm...should i stick with my college list, then? but i feel so insecure..

Apply to harvard... that app took me less than 5 minutes. I am applying to Brown because I love it too, and would be very interested in their computer science major.

All I'm saying is don't assume that because you didnt get ito Columbia that you can't get into other good schools. Besides the fact that those schools are easier than Columbia to get into, you never know how admissions works.

My Cousin was outright rejected at Columbia, but waitlisted at Harvard...it's very random.

haha you crack me up Carrera...i'm not gonna waste money applying to Harvard~ only 1 student gets accepted from my school and i know that's not gonna be me.

Hey, who knows... its woth 5 minutes of my time for that .0001% possibility.

I would say that last year it was definitely easier to get into Harvard than Yale.

Agree with freakish.
I have a friend who got accepted to Harvard and got denied to Brown, Yale, and Oxford.

that....is.....strange..........................now my useless hopes are up again..and i'm becoming delusional!!

hehe i love the fact that money isnt a issue for me...

feee waiversss baby!.:)

lol... I guess money really isnt an issue for anyone. Because for those who it is an issue for, you get the fee waivers. I wonder how many of the applicants apply with fee waivers? Is it hard to get them?

well actually money is an issue for some because i have a friend..who on paper ..it seems like her family is well off..but in fact..its all investments and stuff..i know ..i just know it sucks..and shes screwed..o yeh shes 12 and a senior..how crazy is that.

plus it isnt hard to receive fee waivers if ur parents taxes show u need it..

How can you guys still be deciding what schools to apply to? Didn't you already have to hand in your teacher recc forms and transcript requests?

nope not yet, in fact, i'm not allowed to until Friday.

"i have to face the reality and stop living in fantasy world.." - lol... i hate reality.. lol.. so bleak..

Actually the application is a problem for people other than those who are receiving fee waivers. My parents make over $20,000 per year, but with my brother at a private college for $30,000 per year we do not have a lot of expendable cash. The issue of paying, for everthing, is mostly an issue for middle class families. We have enough money not to receive substantial financial aid or waivers, but not enough money to really pay for 4 years of college at 40k per year.

yea.college. what a ripoff

Are you being serious or sarcastic? Because my post was serious. I know that a fantastic education like Columbia's is worth the money, but most of us don't have that money.
