Let's beat the December SAT. Together.

I was hoping to buy the 2013 direct hits 5th edition but my amazon lacks like .70cents , my last resort would be the direct hits 4th edition. Do you have any idea if they would have much much different content?

I’ll be in the blue book everyday for the rest of the month. I’m also going to memorize all of direct hits. For writing, I’m going to look at more grammar rules that appear on the test. Math will be difficult for me to raise but I’m going to review geometry since that is my main problem.

@acousticsound,
Geometry is my problem too! That, and I don’t remember a lot of formulas and stuff. I’ve been done with that kind of math for a while now…

I might take the SAT II. Just depends, but if I do, it’ll be the Literature (possibly), Physics, and Math I in January.

HS and my CC class is starting to get in my way of studying…

@Marie, math isn’t my strong point in general but geometry, yuck. And do you think it’s possible to go from a 1780, into the 1900’s in under a month? Thats my goal

@acousticsound, definitely possible.

@Marie, I’ve decided that the SAT takes priority for the next month… so if I don’t do my homework for a while… it’s all good. :)

I think math in general is my problem. I’m just god awful at it. It’s like rocket science.

What do you guys think if an international test taker participate in this thread?

@acousticsound,
Yeah, that is feasible, just like Reckie said!

@Reckie,
I used to be so good at math when I was little! Well, then it used to be so easy I guess lol.

@Billy17,
Totally! You’re welcomed to the thread!

So, December will be my last chance to get a decent score on the SAT.
I took the test this October for the first time. I got 1480 overall
(CR-430;M-580;W-470 - Probably, I am the dumbest person you’ve ever known(from now on) on CC, right?)
Funny thing is that I am aiming for 1900 this time. At least 420 points improvement, huh?
Maybe, it’s impossible. Anyway, I am gonna give it a try.
After the Oct test, I bought these books.

The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar
PWN the SAT
The Official SAT Study Guide with DVD
McGraw Hill’s SAT 2012
Direct Hits v.1,2
How to write a killer SAT Essay.

What do you guys think about these books? Are they enough for me to get at least 1800? Is there any other book would you recommend for me? Especially for CR, which is my biggest problem. Anyway, I’ll stick with this thread, with you all, until the Dec. So keep posting what have done for the test.

@Billy,
Nah, don’t say that! No one is dumbbb! (Unless you compare yourself to others on CC, lol. jk.) Plus, with your October score, there is a bunch of room for improvement that is realistic! I own two of the books that you have listed. (BB and PWN the SAT) Just so you know, buying a bunch of prep books won’t raise your score. Understanding the information, improving on your weaknesses, and knowing the “tricks/shortcuts” is what will raise your score. Don’t just go over the information, you need to understand it and use it.

I’ll have to wait until I’m out of my Bio lecture before I can study today…

24 More days.

Good luck to everyone. I want to raise my score so badly. I agree, hw will have to take the back burner for the next 24 days. My SAT score is my priority right now.

The Dec SAT has me freaking out! Its my first time taking the SAT and I have a very very bad history with tests so I am aiming for anything above 2000. I just want to break 2000.

@brandigirl have you taken any practice tests to predict your score range?

I’m at my friends today. Definitely no studying getting done. My house has no power and is around 40*.

I took the Oct SAT; bombed that with a 1910. I’m currently studying for the Dec SAT. I feel like it’s the CR that gets me every time (especially passage reading both short and long), any tips?
I have the BB, a bunch of Kaplan books, and Barron’s.

Oh, and if you think you bombed the SAT, think again! My cousin took it in Oct. as a second run in her senior year. She posted her scores and it came out to a total of 1380…So think again before you say that you “bombed” something… Just sayin’. 1910 is a pretty decent score!

@26antara, when you read the passages pretend they are the most interesting thing you’ve ever read. Try it.
