Well, I have a problem, I didn't take any SAT II's. I am going to call them during their office hours and I am planning to ask if...? Please, tell me what I should ask. Should I tell them why I couldn't take the SAT IIs? Fax them a letter? Is this letter indicating that I will be accepted? Asking them if they can make a decision without the SAT II scores ... will that be okay?

Unless you are studying art or design, the Carnegie Mellon admissions website clearly states that 3 SATII test scores are required. Try calling them, but I'm afraid this doesn't look good for you.

I have a similar...yet somewhat different problem. I was recently sent the same letter claiming that I was missing my high school transcript and personal evaluation form, when I clearly remember having my school send my transcript, and myself sending the essay. I emailed the Office of Admissions but I won't get a response for a few days. Something strange is going on here...

Idcubed, I'd contact your GC as soon as you get back to school rather than wait for e-mail from CMU. Get GC to send transcript and letter ASAP (is fax acceptable?), maybe you can send them overnight yourself. And call CMU so that if they did indeed lose those 2 things they know to expect replacements shortly, and that you are aware of the problem and are working to fix it.

wassupman...some schools will accept ACT in place of SAT II. I don't know if CMU is one of them. Even if they do, you prob don't have the time unless you've already taken it.

On Jan 22 S got a package from CMU which included a letter listing all the parts of his application they had received. According to that letter, all required parts had been received including his personal evaluation (High School Counselor's Report). 2 weeks later, he got another letter from CMU saying they had NOT received his personal evaluation. I immediately called admissions, they did not have the personal evaluation in his file and couldn't explain the discrepancy. They did, however, let the counseling office fax a copy, which CMU did receive.

Cornell was a different story. All that was missing from S's file was his transcript, even though it had been sent twice (once with Counselor's report and once with Midyear report which Cornell had received and recorded). The counselor's office immediately sent another copy of the transcript via snail mail. One week later, they still had not recieved the transcript. Counselor's office mailed yet one more copy via snail mail. Finally, after 2 weeks and calls from me every 2 or 3 days, they let the counseling office fax a copy of his transcript which they managed to receive and record within 24 hours. Each time I called Cornell admissions, I asked if we could fax, or fed express the transcript, but was told they were so inundated with mail and faxes that they wouldn't get through any quicker that way. Needless to say, it was a stressful 2 weeks in our house and we will never know what happened to the 4 copies of his transcript that never managed to get to his file. The folks in the admissions office were very pleasant to deal with but were obviously feeling very stressed. They explained that they had changed their process this year and that it had not worked very well. This year, they destapled each part of an application when it came in (transcripts from counselor's report and midyear reports, essays from supplement form, etc.) Considering that they received an unprecedented # of apps this year (24,000 plus), it's amazing that S's file was only missing that one item!
