Might asking to do this help my chances of admissions? hanging out in the nice weather and "easing" into things sounds pretty good

O.K.--So there are two summer options: Summer Bridge which the U offers as a condition for freshman admission and just the regular summer semester? It's still unclear... is the regular summer term a student-initiated app option for incoming freshmen, or perhaps it's just intended for current students? If it's a student option, would admission be less competitive than for the fall term?

Why would they admit students who needed the summer session, especially this year with the tight class offers?

Well, no one knows how tight this year's class is; it's all speculation. I'm positive, though, that they will accept several hundred students on the condition that they attend the summer program.

If you haven't submitted everything yet, is there any chance of acceptance now? My school doesn't have any real clue how to do GPAs since my counselor just puts 4.0 for all who have over a 4.0 . I have a 4.0 then. I have two APs this year and got "As" in both for the first card marking. I'm working on two more "As" for the second card marking. I got a 27 on my ACT and had a bad retrest day so I got a 24 then. But it was a bad day. Plus, the test center was rubbish. As for classes, I'm taking the best offered to the point that there are no more difficult classes so I am doing Directed Studies. I have a few ECs, nothing too great though because my school sucks. However, I have good recs and awesome essays because writing is my best trait in school. And my intended major is different (Screen Arts and Cultures, e.g. film). Do I have a hope?

Even with that good GPA, you're chances are extremely slight due to your low ACT and the fact that you haven't even submitted your application yet. Most people applying now are those with high SAT's who got rejected from the ivies and other prestegious instituions. I highly doubt you will get in. Are you instate or out of state?

Ay, I'm instate and I just found out that they have recieved all of my stuff. I have one more rec to send to them though. The 27 was my first time testing and the second test wasn't too hot because I wasn't feeling well and the test center sucked--the supervisor switched with someone so they could go eat or something and this dude watching over us spent his time walking over near where I was sitting and was looking at things and overall just distracting my part of the room. Then a girl's cell phone went off and everyone looked up, spent two minutes laughing and listening to her saying it's off when all she did was put it on vibrate. Then some kid started snorting because they were sick and clearing their throat really loud. And the supervisor kept making these little "mmhmm" noises too, only less "mm" and more "hmm." Overall, little concentration going on that day. I was told I should have reported the test center.

I actually feel the science is a rip off. Nobody teaches that stuff, and if they do, it's not my school. Math is what I suck at so that's why my score isn't higher. I live and breathe english and reading and social studies stuff and writing. Just nothing to do with math or science. Which is why I am hoping for Northwestern. I could almost care less about Michigan. Too competitive.

What? Michigan is too competitive? Ummmm, Northwestern is MUCH more competitive than Michigan

As for the summer program and "why they'd admit people to summer if the class is tight", they have a target for summer and a target for fall. They consider one when setting the other. The last two years, summer has gone over just like fall has--contributing to the whopper class!

arent all the people who come in the summer also still going to be around in the fall? it actually does sound kind of fun, I would certainly do it if it meant getting in.

As far as summer admissions (not Bridge), has there been much of a difference in the admission stats compared to the fall admits or have they been roughly the same? What's the advantage of applying for the summer term instead of fall?
