As an applicant, I was wondering how complete does your candidate file need to be for the Letter of Assurance?
And what do they base it off of?
Is there a certain point where they stop granting them?
My classmate received a LoA for USMA around September, but I know for a fact his file was missing many things. He is not a recruit athlete either.

Receiving an LoA means that a service academy is highly interested in a candidate who is very competitive. The candidate still has to pass the DoDMERB exam, the CFA, complete the file, and receive a nomination.

LOAs can and are given out without a completed file. Early LOAs can be given out based on a 6th semester transcript which includes a class rank, a completed candidate questionnaire, and SAT or ACT scores.
