Do colleges expect to recieve letters of rec by the time thier apps are due? I've already had letters of rec sent to schools but I've decided at the last minute that I want to apply to cornell. I don't want to ask my teachers to send the letters during break, especially this close to Christmas. The deadline for Cornell is Jan. 2. Would it be ok if i had the letters sent on like Jan. 7th or 8th, or do they have to be postmarked by the second?

also, does anybody know how many letters cornell requires?

I've heard that schools don't care that much, since it is the teachers responsibility. Just as long as they come in a relatively timely maner, you should be okay.

However, you noted that you didn't want the teachers to have to send them out over break. Personally, if I was a teacher I would WANT you to give me the recs over break, because I would have a lot of free time to do it, as opposed to when you come back from school when I would be swamped by work.

I already had them write the recs, I just hadn't asked them to send them to cornell. You don't need different recs for different colleges do you?
