Letter of Reccomendation

<p>Just wondering if it would be smarter to have a professor write me up a LOR or since I will be working as a math tutor for my school in the fall having the head of the math department write it for me since we are pretty close. Is this something schools wouldn't really care about? Is there a general rule of thumb for who you get to write the letters for you? I figured I would get my o-chem teacher too because of the major I am applying for.</p>
