So far this is how bad my college admission experience has been....

Accepted: CUNY Hunter (Nursing)
Wait Listed: SUNY Buffalo (Pharmacy)
SUNY Stony Brook (Biological Sciences)
Long Island University (Pharmacy)
Uconn (Pharmacy)
Rejected: St. Johns University (Pharmacy)
Columbia University

I dont feel like sitting here and boasting about my great credentials, grades, ECs, and etc because at this point that doesn't matter. I just dont understand how i was rejected to my safety!?!? Anyway, my dream is to become a successful pharmacist and all of my pharmacy schools either wait-listed or rejected me. As of right now, my top choice is Buffalo. I've called and spoke to my admission counselor and stated:

1)I am aware of how difficult the admissions season has been, and Im extremely happy and appreciative that buffalo considered me qualified enough to be placed on the wait list and Im still extremely interested in attending the school.

2) I will be putting a deposit down with another school but I would CERTAINLY drop that if a wait list offer were to come my way because Buffalo has always been my top choice.

3) If i can find out where I am on the wait list.

My Buffalo Admission Counselor said that Buffalo has previously accepted many of their4 students off the wait list and that my phone call certainly helped. He also said that i am "on top" of the wait list..

I will be mailing them my resume, recommendation (is there anything my teacher should state regarding me being wait listed?), and a letter regarding my interest for the school.

*** I need help in writing that letter. How can i start it off, show my interest, and most importantly stand out from the rest of the "wait-listers." At this point any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had a bad experience so far with admissions, but I’ll tell you it generally all works out in the end. I had a friend in a similar case - she applied early action to UVM’s Nursing School (a safety) and was rejected. She applied to UPenn Nursing early decision and was accepted. I think it can just be completely random with these specific programs at schools.

As for your letter, you could start out with your name and schools and then go into something like, “I was very disappointed to be waitlisted back in March, and would like to express my continued interest in SUNY Buffalo as my top choice.” That can be your first paragraph…a short intro and continued interest statement.

Then you can go into the specific reasons why that school is your number one.

And to end it, say something like “If I were to be offered admission, there is no doubt in my mind that I would attend.”

i just finished writing my letter. Does anyone know what type of format i should put it in?? And can i PM it to someone to read and comment on. thanks…

^But does that letter help if the university specifically states to not send extra material?

For example: “We respectfully ask that you refrain from calling, mailing or emailing the Admission Office to reiterate your interest in Stanford.” Am I REALLY not supposed to call and send letters?

Whats the format of this letter?

If i know my counselor’s name should i write Dear Mr. LastName or To Whom It may Concern?

Should i bribe them by including a check of $5,000 made payable to the university? lol jk

Did you need someone else to edit your letter? I love editing haha notsomuch writing…
anyways,

Format of letter - regular letter form (your address at the top, date, their address)

If you know your counselor’s name and am sending it straight to him, I would put his name

YES haha
I think I may do that

^Thanks. I was thinking about both emailing my admission counselor and mailing this letter. Should i write anything specifically on the envelope besides the TO/FROM address?

I’m thinking of both mailing out the letter and emailing it to my admissions counselor. I mailed out the letter today. How long should i wait before i email it to him?
