im planning on applying to Arts and sciences as a prospective chem major. i was not planning on getting a letter of rec from my chem teacher (only had him one year), but rather from two humanities teachers i know very well, and get along with great. should i go to my chem teacher instead?

go with a teachers who know you well, who can give insights into your personality, work ethic, maturity, etc. A Cornell adcom once told me "dont necessarily get a rec. from the AP teacher you got an A from; get one from the teachers who know you best," or something like that. so yeah, it doesn't matter as long as you're showing GOOD and unique perspectives on you.

Will a rec from Cornell ALumni of my selected college help?? Especially the alumni is a professor?

alumnus: male/neutal singular
alumna: female singular
alumni: neutral plaural
:p you'll find yourself using those alot in the coming months ;)

alumni reports help, but I dont think the alumni connection really makes a main letter of rec. any better. however, if you're friends with an alumnus, he can do the equivilant of an alumni interview by filling out an "alumni report," online i believe. a letter would probably work too.

what exactly is an alumni report and how to u get to it on the website?
