This is a more general question, but I decided to post it here because I get the best advice here. Alright, so aside from the two mandatory Letters of Recommendation that we need to do, I’ve seen some people talk about on this forum about how they send in an extra one just because. I decided to have my choir teacher send in the letter that she wrote for me, because she pretty much calls me one of the best students she’s had, but some of my peers have been telling me that it’s really impressive to have the principle or assistant principle write you a letter of rec, but then they said that four letters of rec would be too much because the admissions officer wouldn’t want to go through all those letters. Should I just stick to three letters, or is adding in a letter of rec from my principle or asst. principle worth adding an extra one?

Extra LOR’s should be from someone who knows you well who can provide information beyond what is already there. No one cares about the status or title of the LOR-writer at the school. So I guess the question is… what would be in the letters?

Yeah, that’s the thing - the principle and assistant principle know me, but they don’t know me extremely well. I don’t want to replace my counselor’s letter with the principle’s letter, because I’m pretty close to my counselor, and then my choir teacher’s letter of rec speaks too highly of me NOT to send. Okay, thank you! :)
