Sending extra Letters of Rec.?

I've noted that for all the colleges I'm applying to, most require me to send at least one letter of recommendation. Some require 3, a few one, and the rest two.

However, I also have special circumstances (mental disabilities) that I feel a teacher or two could not just exclaim on the letter of recommendation very proficiently. My school counselor knows me very well and understands my circumstances and is more than glad to write a letter for me.

So, my question is, for the schools whom I may exceed their requirements: Is it okay to send 3 letters from two teachers and my counselor to all schools? I feel that I cannot exclaim to them that I am well-varied, determined, and distinct student without having my chemistry and social science teacher and my counselor exclaim everything from different angles. This is not to say that my essays and other supplements are not well written (I've had them edited), but I do want to have different parallels drawn out to the admission committees at the places I am applying to.

Please go back and reread the college websites carefully. Many colleges require a LOR from your HS GC plus 0-3 teacher LORs.

IMO, you should send no more than 1 supplemental LOR over the number required/recommended. And a supplemental LOR should only be sent if is both very strong and addresses factors that are different than what is discussed in your other LORs.

If you list some of the schools you’re planning on applying to, I can take a look at and double check what their LOR requirements are. Also talk to your GC about things like this if you have any questions, that’s one of their jobs.
