IUB admissions open soon and I want to catch as many scholarships as possible, so that means applying ASAP. However, I don’t have letters of rec and would have to wait until school starts to request them, which means applying almost a month later. I’m from out of state, so I’m trying to bring the tuition down to at least an in-state level so that I can afford to go. Should I wait for the letters of rec to apply or should I apply ASAP? Thanks everyone.
Letters of rec won’t move the needle for admissions. They might help if you are right on the border, but they are irrelevant otherwise. If you have good stats and qualify for the SSA, you will need rec letters, but you won’t have to do that until after you apply. It doesn’t really matter as long as you apply by November 1, but there’s no point of waiting for rec letters.
Alright, thanks a lot.
