letters of recommendation for QB

It says two teacher recs and one counselor rec.

Do they accept letters of rec from sophomore teachers? Also, is foreign language considered a core academic subject?

I know some colleges don't accept letters of rec from foreign language teachers.

Yes, foreign language counts as an academic subject (math, english, history, science foreign language all count). And it depends. They allow sophomore teachers recs, but they prefer junior year teachers. However, the class taught by your teachers was an AP/Honors course or they know you really well, then it might be a good idea.

They state they do prefer Junior year teachers, but my daughter did use one from her Sophmore year from an AP class, and there was no problem.

Sorry for potentially derailing your thread, but here is a somewhat related question: What should be done about schools that require both the Common App and the QuestBridge App, as far as recommendation letters are concerned? Should we let the same teachers do both, or try to find different ones?

Anyone that can weigh in on this?

Personally I’d recommend going with the two teachers whom you feel will give you the strongest recommendations.

thanks for the advice :)

can anyone answer sferic’s question above? I’m pretty sure QB recs and common app recs should be the same.

I had the same teachers do both the QB rec and the Common App rec. One school that I ranked for the match required both the QB app and the common app wanted both recs but another school only wanted the QB rec. I think most people from last year let the same teachers do both.

^Thanks :)

Yeah, I figured they probably don’t have the time to read 3 or 4 different letters of rec.
