I am applying to only schools that do not accept letters of recommendation but my parents think I should get them anyway. Is there any point in getting them? I am not applying for scholarships.

Your parents are incorrect. The vast bulk of US colleges do not read nor desire rec letters. However, having one ready to submit – just in case some unforeseen unique program or opportunity arises in the near future is always a good idea. But DON’T send them to colleges that don’t want them.

Yeah that’s what I thought thanks

@T26E4 My parents think that they will help me in a few years getting into internship or even a job but I said that they will not want a letter of recommendation from years ago but they said they will. Is any part of their argument correct because I really have no idea?

The reason I am not wanting to get letters of recommendation is because my school does not typically do recommendation letters and it would be a pain to get. Thanks.

No, you would never ever use a high school rec for an internship or a job later down the road. For an internship while still in college, you’d use a college professor if you need one. You don’t usually have letters of recs for job applications, just references, which would not be high school teachers.
