Letters of recommendations and the essay

How much influence do letter of recommendations and a very well written essay have on your chances of being accepted E.D.??

I think that they both make a big difference. Studies have shown that admissions aren't based on grades anymore. Letters of recommendation and a goood essay can set you apart from the rest. The essay shows them who you are as a person, and the letters of recommendation add to your whole application.

Yes the letters and the essay WILL make or break you, especially at UF. They split the admission process in 2 (hollistic and academic) and award points in different sectors. Having a bad essay and letters WILL get you deffered (save the genius with perfect sat and a 4.5)

Don't think it's necessary though. I did not send in a single letter of rec and I got in early decision. My GPA was only about 4.3, SAT 1490, and my extracurrics were nothing special at all (didn't really get involved in my school at all).

sick gpa/sat tho. so erm, you dont count
