seriously, that's what I was going to ask

Really, don't worry if you didn't get a letter like this. This is exactly the same letter I got for Vision, but instead of Vision it mentions Owl days (not that Vision is over with). People that get this will probably all get in, but that doesn't mean that not getting one = rejection. If that were the case, they'd just send out rejection letters right now. Besides, admission committees haven't formed yet, so hang in there.

I got mine today! Yay!

Some colleges will pay for you to attend their accepted student days if you are a top applicant... I can't really afford the plane fare to Houston (I'm in the Bos-Wash area)... Do you think Rice would pay for me?

in a somewhat unrelated note: i got a "possible" letter from wellesley today, (20% accepted from this group). now i really feel like the Rice one was a fluke/the computer has some problems

I got one by email today, probably because I'm an international. Hoping for one in the mail though.

I Just Got A Likely Email!!!! Squeeeee!!!!!

same here..haha all the people getting likely letters seem to be on CC

Mwahaha I just got a likely email... best birthday present so far :)

Got it today; any Rice students have experience with this? Are you almost "sure" in if you get this?

Rice is my second choice school so I am pretty excited.

I'm pretty sure they've never done this before, so we're all waiting to see how it plays out.

I seem to be the only one here who didn't get one :(

I have a theory. Many students used to go interim decision and know in February whether or not they got in. This may be Rice's way of telling students they are going to get in, but less officially than it used to be. At least it reduces the stress level of many students, instead of making them wait for March or April.

I didn't get one either Polydentate. :(

i got a likely e-mail not a likely letter. pretty cool...although i think the way they worded it doesnt make the acceptance sound that definite. any of you also receive likely's from other colleges?

i didn't get one..

Aw...I haven't gotten one. X(

Didn't get one either...

I'm sure they are not sending them out to all accepted students; probably just a select few. I know it is hard to wait for April 1st, but I'm afraid some of you will have to do so. Remember that the CC group is a highly motivated and self-selected group, and is NOT representative of the average college applicant (or even the average Rice applicant.) So it may seem to you that "all" applicants are getting likely letters (or emails), but that is just because you have a very rarified applicant pool here on CC. ;)

This is true, I've noticed that the admission rate for CC applicants is much higher than the actual admission rate for most colleges.
It'd be interesting to have some actual data on that, though.
