letters?

Yeah. I got one by email today. Quite kicked by it. But does that give me a better chance of getting merit scholarships or need-based aid?

Rice will always meet 100% of your need based on the FAFSA, so no worries there. As far as merit aid, we really don't know since this is the first time Rice sends out likely letters. If you're good enough to get a likely letter, you may be good enough to get merit aid. But then again, merit aid is given by the FinAid department, so that might not be the case.

Yeah. But unfortunately I'm an international. So merit aid is all I'm likely to get at Rice, right?

pedrossi, just wondering where you heard that merid aid is given by the FinAid office. I was actually told the opposite...

Really? I was pretty sure it was the FinAid people that gave out merit aid. I probably heard it on this forum, but you may be right...

that's all you can expect to get.
but i heard stories of generous merit-based scholarships.. so i am hoping for those.

Awesome, I just got a likely letter yesterday
Rice is my first choice school, so that is awesome

lol
this thread is a year old ironmetal

Yeah, I'm REALLY hoping likely letter means merit aid.

that would be nice
i'm sure it increases your eligibility
