For econ and IR it doesn’t really matter where you go. Unless you are pursuing a PhD there really aren’t too many differences between different econ programs. Find the best combination of size, academics, location cost, and prestige for you. If you want a PhD in econ aim for Chicago, Harvard, or MIT. If you want a really strong degree in IR I belive Georgetown is the place to be with Tufts and GW not too far behind. However, for other schools you can’t really differentiate too much between peers.

One thing to look for (which you should do yourself rather than asking for anechdotal answers on CC) are the study abroad opportunities at schools that interest you. SOme schools have lots of programs. Some schools make it very tough to get credit when abroad. Some schools have partnerships with other schools so that greatly increases your options for study abroad. Some are very strict in prereqs for study abroad (at Penn you need a lot of Spanish before you can go to Spain). Check out the schools you are interested in by googling “X Study Abroad” and reading over the website. If you have more questions ask them on the school’s specific board on CC.

Yeah I did check the schools study abroad program, a large help was princetonreview.com ranking.
Also I didn’t mean a school exactly like George Washington University, such as its campus, just a good program a like.
