Liberal Arts Safety School?

Hi! So, I'm a rising junior looking to apply to a liberal arts school, less than 6,000 undergrad in New England, NY, PA, or IL with excellent academics.

I have visited: Swarthmore, Skidmore, Middlebury, Lafayette, UChicago, Gettysburg, UWisconsin, Haverford, William & Mary, Lehigh, Williams, Vassar and Bard. The first 6 are the ones that are still on my list.

I want to visit: Amherst, Colgate, ConnColl, Dartmouth, Penn, Cornell, Dickinson, F&M, Hamilton, Tufts, Trinity, Wesleyan, and Northwestern.

I realize that a lot of these are very hard to get into, and some, while still selective, are not. I am looking for more of the latter. Are there any that you can think of that I'm missing from my list?

here are my stats:

Hard to figure out a safety when we don’t have any scores. What is your UW GPA? What is your class rank? Possibly the most important question, what are your parents willing to pay? A safety must be affordable.

the link that says “how am I doing” has all of my scores & ECs. I have about 4.3 weighted & I think 3.7 UW & my school doesn’t rank. I have not taken any standardized tests so far except for the World History SAT II, which I got a 760 on. My parents are able to pay for what they have to.

muhlenberg college

The CTCL schools are mostly less selective LACs that might make good safeties if you are in the top 25% by stats.

muhlenberg college

Might look at Holy Cross-nice location 1 hour from Boston. HC(don’t have to be religious) has a beautiful campus and strong academics.

Union College, its a really cute LAC

It would help to know what you like about the six that remain, and why you eliminated the others.

Take a look at Beloit (just over the IL state line) and Knox.

There are many possibilities in the states you mention or in neighboring states.
PA: Juniata, Ursinus, Bryn Mawr
IL: Knox
NY: Hobart, Union, Ithaca, Sarah Lawrence, Barnard
NE: Bates, Colby, Holy Cross, Smith, Mt. Holyoke

IN: Earlham
MI: Kalamazoo
OH: Kenyon, College of Wooster
KY: Centre
MD: St. Mary’s College of MD, Goucher

I don’t really see the rationale in your list, but that’s okay, you visited and it’s your list.

I would suggest that you consider some of the women’s schools. Excellent academics in proportion to selectivity. If you like Swarthmore and UChicago look at Smith. You can visit when you visit Amherst.

Bates and Colby are in ME* and Holy Cross is in MA* pretty sure the locations for “NE” are pretty off.

Bard in NY state

Not sure what Porphyria is trying to say? OP said “New England” so Bates, Colby and Holy Cross all qualify.

Do you have any other criteria? I think there are a ton of LAC’s in those states!

Can’t believe, given your list, you would not consider Bucknell. Yes, it is very selective.

But also look at Union. It is a bit less selective. More like Skidmore.
