The parking permits in the general parking areas usually are gone by mid quarter. This is my second and last year at UCI, I was a transfer student from LA. I use the preferred parking because when events go on, they [UCI parking and transportation] usually take up spots on the upper levels (especially in the student center parking structure) which are the only ones you can park in with the regular permit and that can be a pain if you are in a rush for class and you commute. It’s only a small difference relatively speaking but the preferred permits usually don’t sell out and allow you to park anywhere within the structure except the pay by space areas
How is it cheating to pursue what you are passionate about? I know plenty of students that went undeclared but really knew what they wanted. Getting in the door is the most important part, I contemplated changing majors and as long as you meet the requirements of the major they usually don’t care from my experience. A lot of my classmates last year didn’t start out as film majors.
Do what you feel will make you happy these next two years at UCI. School is about the experience and not the major anyway. You learn more from your peers and being able to openly debate and talk about the world. Worse they can say is no.
I suggest making an appointment with an advisor to talk it over and the steps to changing majors
Thanks guys, I already talked to her and yea I can do it just have to take a few more classes when I’m over there.
If you have financial aid check your aid award, my status updated. I called and they said that it wont be reflected in the Zot Account till August which is when we can pay fees with it.
To add to that, if your financial aid is under verification, i was told that reviews are being done this month and that our rewards wouldn’t be updated until early august
yeah the verification for me is done from what I can tell.
Have any of you looked at your degree audit ? My transcripts are all in and classes are reflected but only a few are actually shown as applied towards the BA. Anyone else in that boat, I’ve got IGETC too so just wondering. Maybe they haven’t finished reviewing them or just started.
Yeah I saw both earlier after I posted. They listed every transferable class i took on the registrar site and i think It only had the classes i registered for fall quarter actually applied towards the degree on the audit. During my advising they told us to come back after i think September 15th for our full plan so I’m guessing around then is when they expect to be done reviewing everything. Did you send them the IGETC certification from your previous school? I think the advisor told us to bring that to them at the next session but I hardly remember since it was nearly a month ago.
Ours are on our transcript so I sent new transcripts that show the IGETC and the AAT degree. Glad I’m not alone. I think I’ll do an advisement soon, looking to see if I missed anything. Thinking about doing a minor in business.
Are you receiving the cal grant? Got my rewards finally but my cal grant says “unconfirmed”. Figure its because the school barely added it in. I’ll never be done waiting for things.
I’m getting uci grant.
Have you checked your degree works again yet? it looks like they applied my transfer courses already or are at least in the process. The page looks rather incomplete but it says i got 118 credits applied. University requirements for language and history are filled out as well.
Did anyone’s award status change for financial aid ? "We’ve received additional information and your financial aid award is currently being reviewed. Your updated award should be available within the next fifteen days. If it has been more than fifteen days, please contact our office at (949) 824-8262. "
Called today and they updated me that it is due to the health insurance waiver, so if any of you are held up that may be why.
Just so you guys know, cause I saw someone mention about free sweatshirts from the Alumni Center throughout September, that is incorrect. I went there today and was informed from Sept 20-23 from 10 am - 5 pm they will be giving away sweatshirts for new students. Just fyi.
