Anyways I would want to ask how's the life at Barr Hall in the BAMM complex on Busch? Is it air cooled, have pool tables, wifi in all rooms, nice kept bathrooms, and all the other jazz? And also I hear that this sector of the BAMM complex's ratio is like an 9:1 ratio of guys to girls, as well as Asian to other race. It's not that I have a huge problem with all this, but I wanna know if these "Barr" stereotypes are true from what I heard from a friend's sister.

Though I didn’t live at Barr, I got several opportunities to visit there because that’s where my friend lived.

Barr is the loudest residence hall of BAMM complex.
No wifi in all rooms; it’s only available in the lounge.
Air cooled.

Pool table, ping pong table, and a large flat screen TV on the first floor lounge. Pool sticks are missing, and the #2 ball is gone. The ping pong ball is never there because people steal it or squash it. Ping pong pads are broken and mutilated.

Bathrooms are surprisingly clean. At least the guys bathroom is.

Guy/Girl ratio is more like 6:4.

Asian/Other race ratio is about 3:7.

Barr stereotypes? Well, I’d say it’s like “College Ave on Busch.” It’s usually loud as hell.

lmao *** why do you even care about guy girl ratio and asian other race ratio? if ur friends sister is bothered by stupid shtz like that she doesn’t deserve to be at Rutgers

I lived in Barr my freshmen year, the loudness is really going to differ from year to year. When I was there, the first and second floors were always dead quiet and the third and fourth floors were a little bit louder (just not before any exams, everyone is taking the same classes so they were all very respectful of last minute studying)

I lived on the fourth floor first semester and then moved to the first floor second semester so I went from a mixed floor to an all girls one. You’d be very surprised about how little of a difference this makes.

good place to live if you are an engineer so you guys can help each other out in hw/studying. Most of these students you will see through the rest of your college life.

I have to politely disagree with shipponz. Barr is not the kind place where you can actually study unless you want to “study” in your room with booming music and 10 people holding beer cans.

i know what i mean but i usually studied with my friends in the study lounge first floor and had headphones on. Usually studying after 11pm where people are usually towards their rooms

I agree with shipponz. I lived at Barr and really enjoyed my time there. The huge advantage is that a lot of us were in the same classes and were able to study together. If the music got loud, I went to other places to study. When I was finished studying, there were always people to hang out with. A traditional residence hall will almost never be quiet, that’s college for you.

There was some really good chemistry on my floor. Behavior will vary by floor and by year. Every dorm has loud music and people who drink, it’s not necessarily specific to certain dorms. It really depends on who is living there, there’s no way to predict the behavior of any dorm.
