I've got a difficult choice to make this year, and to help me make it, I'd really appreciate feedback on the following question from anyone who might care to answer - have you ever been in love with someone that you felt the universe simply could not improve upon? And was that really the case, or was it youthful naivete?

I ask because I'm a senior undergrad, struggling with a decision... do my girlfriend and I stay together after graduation, modifying our career and post-graduate plans as necessary to stay together, or do we part ways? The decision is difficult for me because I have many different ideas for the direction I would like my career to take - some of which could involve travel or four years in the armed forces. Committing to continue our relationship would likely prevent me from exploring all but one of those paths, while I would prefer to have the opportunity to try out two or three of them before settling down.

On the other side of the scale, I am in love with the most amazing woman that I have ever met, and I can't help but wonder... if we part ways now, is that going to be a choice that I regret for the rest of my life? Will I be able to find someone who can make me feel this way again?

Hence the question at the beginning of this post. Has anyone out there been in a similar position?
