I'm going to be a premed student this fall at UCLA but plan to still live the life of a regular UCLA college student. Will I be able to attend basketball games, join a frat, and hang out with friends? I know premed will take a lot of my time up but I still want to experience college the way most of the other students do. Can any current bruins tell me if its possible? I'm pretty smart by the way, I learn stuff pretty fast. Do any of you other premeds plan to do this?

I had no idea UCLA has a hierarchy of students.

Im going to be premed as well, but I wont consider myself anything above than a “regullar UCLA student”.

In terms of time devoted to studies we aren’t “regullar” but I thought you would have known that.

You plan to join a frat?

yup its really easy to balance imo. im premed + in a frat + went to almost every home football game + found plenty of time to go out and still stayed on top of my work.
really the thing is time management. you have to be able to prioritize.
for the frat, your pledge quarter - 1st quarter in the frat - will be the worst. you’re basically their ***** and it takes up a lot of time.

Thanks for the reply and the heads up about the 1st quarter of frat.

confidence is key. if youre confident you will do well, you have ridiculous amounts of free time. doesnt look like you will.

but then again many confident people **** up, so its actually just being smart.

Haha thanks for your confidence in me.

Premed students do not have it any harder than the rest of the student body. It really depends on the major. You’ll need to spend more time studying than a communications major, but not more than a student majoring in engineering, math, or the physical sciences.
Premed students are just known for being *******s, that doesn’t mean premed classes are the most difficult at UCLA. In my opinion, engineering majors have the most difficult courses.

premed is overrated imo.
you’ll have plenty of time to do all of the things you’ve listed, and then some

lol, this thread makes me crack up(no offense, of course)… “hierarchy of students”…“you have to be able to prioritize”…“confidence is key”…
