Life Science 1-4 work load?

I'm going to be a freshmen during the fall, and an engineering major. Looking at my GEs, the life sciences (1 and 2) looked pretty interesting. However...bruinwalk didn't think so, and reading the reviews and the ratings were not encouraging.
Apparently all the LS classes are harsh memorization and regurgitation, and the classes are super hard! For people who have taken these classes, what are your opinions? Should I consider taking it for my first quarter? Is it worth my time?

If you are an engineering major, but not a biomedical option/chem E/bioengineer, I would say… do not bother with those classes. And you will probably not get into any of those classes your first quarter unless you have pretty special status. I wouldn’t take them as GEs unless they were absolutely necessary. Ask more questions.

Hm…Yeah, I’m most likely not going to take any biomedical options. Classes are filling up too…Any ideas for ESS 15? It looks like a good subject, oceanography, but apparently it has a lot of reading too? Gosh, picking GEs are not easy. :(

do not pick LS courses are GEs. that is idiotic. they are core classes for all life science majors, and every pre-med takes em too.

If you’re an engineer like I am, a lot of your GEs get pushed back to later years to ease the courseload (and let you finish pre-reqs). Then it gets really easy since you have the pick of the lot.

hm…good idea Deuces. I actually got a bunch of my GEs out of the way already through CC classes and AP scores (that I mostly did not even know I could), and they wouldn’t let me take physics first quarter… so I had to take a GE this quarter…
