How is the Life Science course sequence at UCLA (as in Life Science 1-4)? Is it really hard/does it require a lot of work? I'm going to be taking it next year, and I want to make sure I don't sign up for other difficult courses if it requires a very large amount of time/effort.

I would like to know as well.

Although I haven’t taken them yet (I’m doing LS1 in summer and starting LS2 fall because I couldn’t decide on my major until literally two days ago), my friends have all said they are very difficult. They require a lot of reading/memorization of minute details and also have lab portions. If you plan on doing LS fall quarter (which most Freshman don’t do), I’d take a GE and a comparatively easy science class with it and go from there.

Thanks for the reply! Are the lab portions the discussion section? Because I was looking at the schedule and couldn’t find a separate course for labs (unlike with Chemistry).

Yah it alternates weeks between discussion and lab. It is a part of the grade for the lecture course, while chem classes have a totally separate class.
