I'm applying to Macaulay Honors at Hunter and am very anxious to know what both the students are like and the social life. Are there any students that, for lack of a better word, party? I don't mean excessively, but you know, every so often. Or are they more straight-edge and mostly care about studies. Please, I am looking for a real response that is not sugar-coated. Thanks in advance for any help. Feel free to PM me.

Im a MHC frosh at Queens, but I do have a friend at Hunter who told me that the dorms on Friday are a bit loud and people do drink and walk around drunk. As for parties, I’m not sure if you’ll find them in the dorms itself (you can find small ones yes, but no large 100+ people ones), so your best bet is joining the “I’m Going to College in NYC in 2011” Facebook when it comes out. They host weekly parties for college students that are the more traditional college parties instead of small dorm get-togethers where you drink without a 21 id.

At MHC, you’ll find a good amount of straight-edge kids but you’ll also have your partiers. Its up to you to find your niche of friends, though.

Thank you so much. I don’t necessarily want big parties, -100 is totally fine. I just wanted to make sure that if I did end up going there that my MHC classmates weren’t all going to be the strictly and solely studious types, I like to have a variety of classmates, especially ones that have a good time, albeit when they know its appropriate. Thanks again.
