REPUTATION

Exactly how good is Macaulay Honors College? Are the academics there on par with those of tier one private universities? Will graduate schools, employers, medical schools, etc. acknowledge the "strong" academics of the College or will they think "It's just a program at a CUNY school. It's not too great."

What are the alumni doing? What jobs do they hold? What grad schools do they attend? I tried looking for alumni info but I could not find much.

CAMPUS LIFE
Is it safe there? It is near Harlem, so I am a bit afraid lol.

Where do I dorm? At CCNY Towers or at MHC? I do not know how this works..Also, am I guaranteed housing? If I dorm, will I dorm with Honors students or with all CUNY students? Any info on housing will be so helpful.

Also, is there a campus life? It seems as if there isnt but I like to imagine there is LOL because I find campus life very important. I always wanted that "college experience." Will I make friends within the MHC or will it be hard to form close bonds because most people commute?

Are there ECs? I always wanted to continue baseball and music...

COLLEGE ACADEMICS IN GENERAL
Are there "advanced courses" in college. In HS, there are APs and honors and those are absolutely necessary to go to top schools. That was my mistake. I did not know about them during my freshmen year and I took it easy. When I found out I took hard courses, but by then it was too late to go to a top top school because it looks for those students who took every challenging class.

I do not want to make the same mistake again. I want to start off right this time. Are there such things as "advanced" courses which the top grad schools look for or are all classes in college the same?

There is a placement test called Math 3. What is this about?

TRANSFERING
What if I do not want to do bio anymore? I plan on doing pre-med but I am a fickle person lol...Can i change majors easily or go to another MHC program?

What if I want to just transfer to another school? Are there any specific steps I need to take to change to another school? Because MHC offers so many benefits, will they make me pay back tuition if I happen to just "quit" their program and go elsewhere?

To be honest, I am quite upset because I got into the school I have dreamed about all my life but i cannot go there because of money. I am starting to like MHC more and more but I think i am still not too pleased going there. well...i wouldn't be pleased going elsewhere than my dream school....lol

anyways, i hope to have a great experience there! please help me on discovering more on this school so I can get the most out of it!
