My D’s friend received a likely letter and was flown in to visit Yale for free. How often does this happen? Maybe it was because she is interested in their CS/Engineering program. I thought that I had read earlier posts about inviting kids who were highly qualified to attend some type of engineering event.
I found out it was called YES-W and it’s a 3 day weekend in early fall. It’s a recruiting effort for Yale to attract STEM students. Lucky her!
It’s not in the fall but in the 3rd week of Feb. These are targeted towards high caliber STEM applicants. I believe this is the 3rd year of this special recruitment program

Yes, you are right! It was in Feb. I was confusing it for something else. Her friend is very sold on Yale because of this but is also waiting on Stanford. Really high stats students who will have lots of options.
