Yale YES-W This Year?

Are they still doing the YES-W program? And when do those students hear from Yale?

I think they are. I read an article from either last year or the year before saying that they renewed the program for three more years. If anyone gets a LL and invitation, please post!

Anybody received an invitation yet?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Yale admissions officers don’t start calling some kids as early as Monday to tell them about their likely letters. YES weekend is typically mid-February and kids need time to make travel arrangements. Good luck to everyone!

YES-W is at the end of February this year so invitations may go out a little later than they have in the past (probably in the next week or two).

Let me emphasize, NO ONE should be expecting a LL or YES-W invitation. PLENTY of people get into Yale Regular without one.

@Bulldog2017 - how do you know the YES-W date this year? Thanks for any links! Also, I don’t think anyone is expecting an invitation, but one of the most fun parts of CC is thinking and wondering about such things. :slight_smile:

The admissions office recently sent out an email to potential host which mentioned the dates.

@Bulldog2017 Hello! Do you know what type of candidates Yale chooses to invite to YES?

3 qualifications: 1)RD, 2) Clearly stands out as top 100 Yale applicant indicating a STEM major, 3) Admissions at Yale confident that student will also be accepted to STEM program at another elite (Harvard, MIT, Stanford) institution.

@Bulldog2017
Host?? As in current Yale students?

@idkschool Yes, I am a current student, former YES-W attendee, and future host.

@brec2016 Because I’m not on the admissions committee, I can’t say for sure, but @tdy123 covered the bases pretty well. Above all else, YES-W is a recruiting event, so #3 is especially important on that list.

@Bulldog2017 woah that’s awesome. keep us updated!

@azhang40 Updated about what? The dates? I’m pretty sure those won’t change but I don’t have access to much other information.

@Bulldog2017 oh ok I didn’t know how much info they gave to hosts. my bad

@Bulldog2017 - please show a bit more patience with the kids on the forum. Your input is very valued by all of us, but everyone anxiously reading this thread is hopeful and nervous.

Sorry, that was a genuine question. I guess the inquisitive tone that I intended came off as more defensive. If anyone has specific questions, I can try to answer them, but the email was basically “Here are the dates, fill out this form if you can host.” I did attend three years ago though, so maybe I can answer other questions people have.

Thank you! :slight_smile:

@Bulldog2017 So are the dates Feb 27-29? Thanks!

@collegec123 YES! (pun intended)

@Bulldog2017 What kind of scientific work/research did you engage in during high school?
