Likely Letter

do most of the people admitted receive one?

That must be so exciting!! what a bummer though lol!, my account still says: We are processing the materials blah blah… its been like that since November :(… as longs as it isnt a way to nicely say “oopsie we never got the time to process your materials bye bye” lol!..

No.

I’ve always thought it has something to do with the order in which the applications are reviewed, too. You could be just as outstanding a candidate as someone who gets a likely in the first wave, but happen to be evaluated near the end of the process. In that case, I think they probably don’t bother with a likely. They just send an acceptance. But that’s speculation on my part.

I have the same question as GarfieldGirl. Does Dartmouth send likely letters to internationals? Probably, right? I just want to make sure. I’m international but I’m not holding my breath. I don’t have any hooks.

^In retrospection, I think they do. A girl got a likely letter from Stanford just a few days back in my country so they obviously do.
Hmm, disappointing.

Dartmouth sends likely letters to about 25% of admitted students in three waves usually; so overall, about 400-500 I believe.

I wish I could get a likely letter ): or get accepted, but it’s going to be tough this year since the number of applicants went up. Now, admissions can be even more selective.

Did anyone get contacted for an interview?..

afkatm: Is that 25% of RD applicants or 25% total?

^I just got contacted for an interview this weekend. And I believe it’s 25% of accepted RD students, including those who were deferred.

I have my interview on tuesday and I can’t wait. Does it count for much?

Man, no interview and no likely letter… This isn’t looking good… :(

Has anyone who was deferred recieved a likely letter yet? (I haven’t–not that I was expecting one)

How many waves of likelies have been sent out so far?

No idea, but I’m guessing no more than a couple. Maybe even three.
I checked today and didn’t see a special link. Guess I’m not good enough for a likely… or even an acceptance ):

Stop stressing! last year S got a likely letter in early March, and others got acceptances on April 1. You will probably have many choices. Wherever you end up will be the right place. Try to enjoy your senior year…and time with your parents!

No one who was deferred will receive a likely letter.

The majority of the class accepted RD will not receive a likely letter.

so its just based on them receiving the application early? i submitted my application the night before it was due so im kinda wondering what that means. and does getting a likely letter from say dartmouth influence the potential for someone to get into another ivy league school?

im kinda confused as to the point of the likely letter…?

For everyone who got likelies, when did your school send midyear transcripts?

My counselor didn’t send in Midyear grades until after I received my likely letter. Mine was postmarked January 27… If that helps. It looks like the second wave has gone out…
