Likely Letter?

I just posted this... but i thought i should start my own thread. So, I just got the infamous scholarship rejection letter. However, there are a few sentences in there that confused me: "our committee has been extremely impressed with you and hope that your interest in the University of Richmond will remain strong. THe official good news will arrive in your mailbox in late march."
Has anyone else recieved this in their letter? Could this possibly be a "likely letter?" It would be a serious bummer to open the "good news" in my mailbox, and find out that i've been rejected.

Just Curious,
Leah

hey!
I got the same letter yesterday, they took so many sentences to tell us that we were rejected for the scholarship. I also wondered about those few sentences on how the "good news" would arrive in late march.. its confusing. so what were your stats? anything big that you think should have gotten you to the final round?
i just wonder the stats of those who moved on and those of us who didnt....
oh richmond richmond
post when you get a chance!

I talked to some other people that apparently got a different letter. THere letter still rejected them for the scholarship, but didn't mention anything about good news in march. So it appears that those few lines were good for us. l0l My stats i thought were about average. My sat scores are my weak spot, 670 cr, 560 m, 640 w. But I think i'm ranked number 2/~350, which i suppose is my best asset. My activities include: President of Model UN, Yearbook Editor, Varsity Cheerleading captain, founder of a bookclub, and active homecoming dance commitee member. I also have the usual:member of Beta, Key Club, soccer, and a church youth group. I didn't expect to get the scholarship, but i hope they are generous with need based aid. I'm also curious about the stats of people that moved on. What are your stats? I really hope this letter means i should expect an acceptance, as i am extremely anxious about this school and UVA.

::Leah

ya same letter here with the "good news in march" I have a 3.7uw with a schedule that consisted of 8 honors classes and 6 aps. ACT was ok i guess, 29. Pres of FBLA, sailing, nhs... the usual. haha hopefully we all get in.

Got the same letter about "good news in the mailbox later this month"

Do you mind posting your stats marylandgirl? i'm trying to see if there is any kind of trend with who got this letter and who didn't.

I got it with ~3.4UW top 15% 2070 SAT

yea i got the letter too. id much rather have gotten something saying "you'll recieve your decision in march" because now im even more anxious, but i guess what can u do but chill. waiting is awful.

Leah! you have pretty good stats, quite better than mine...
top 7% of the class
3.86 cumulative gpa
LOW sats... 1710
my toefl (english as second language) 710 out of 720
Natl Honor Society....
Peer Tutor...
and then the usual, President of two clubs, founder of another, lots of community service and internship experiences.. and some other things but basically as far as numbers those are it.

someone else from my school got the same letter we did, i wonder who did not get that one special sentence in the letter...

I got that same sentence in my letter. When I called the school they told me I got in.

did they say that they would send you a letter, anyway?
i see there is still some hope then, at least for getting in.

Elpadrino, when you called, what did you ask? I'm really surprised they gave a decision out like that! I wonder if they would tell me if i called. l0l.. hmmm
Leah

yea seriously i'd almost feel a little wierd asking about that on the phone but if they really give u the decision just like that then who knows.

If they told us to expect good news and than didn't accept us, I'd be very mad. l0l Boston, where else did you apply?

all over... uva, william and mary, chicago, nyu, tulane, macalester, mcgill, villanova, kinda a long list. how about you.

awesome. UVA, University of Illinois-urbana, and lsu-honors. Have you gotten any decisions yet? I'm just waiting for UVA, which is my first choice. I really wish i would have applied to chicago. I was reluctant because i didn't feel my stats were good enough at the time.

i got deferred early from chicago but its all good, and i got into tulane. nothing else yet tho. this waiting is so hectic.

i agree. I absolultely cannot stand the wait for UVA. L0l. April 1st will be either the greatest or worst day of my life, to put it bluntly.

haha yea sersiously but wait i unfortunately thought they weren't telling us till the 15th but maybe its the 1st. whatever day it is itll be pretty intense. good luck with that.
