Ha, it's kinda funny because I wasn't sweating it about not getting a UVA likely letter at all until all of you started freaking out. Now I'm starting to overthink the process because if I can't get even a likely letter from UVA (in-state), what are my chances of getting into my low to high reach schools (UVA is considered a safe "match" for me based on the kind of students my school has sent in the past)? Obviously I don't stand out. Ah, I can't wait 'til decisions. I need to get off CC. :P

I am in the exact same situation! I am one of the best students at my school, and I have the scores and research experience at Hopkins and UVA was ranked a likely for me/safe match and yet I haven't gotten a letter! I'm even in-state! Which is just making me freak out about my other schools! Ughhh I hate college! It's making me so stressed out that I'm barely getting any sleep! Oh well, at least I have a good scholarship to VT if nothing else works out.

I got a likely letter to UNC and was accepted...but no word from UVA. This strikes me as strange. It's not that I was expecting a letter from UVA, but I just figured I had a good shot at it. Now I'm freaking out that I'm not gonna get into UVA (esp. since someone from my school got an LL from UVA). This post is really pointless, I just needed to rant..

^^^I got a likely letter from UVA, but was waitlisted at UNC. Just proves that college admissions are a complete crapshoot. Would you choose UVA over UNC? let me know how it all turns out, and good luck!

jmo but unc is in a really nice town but the rep of uva is better. others might not agree but esp if you are into the law degree. it really is the public ivy even though other schools try to claim this. i just hope they put every bit of time they need into really evaluating the apps cause when i read threads for other schools, lots of the accepted don't make sense next to the rejected. i know there are reasons we may not see but?

just to add to the confusion, and to help students like bluesweetie relax---
D is OOS (3rd year), accepted at both UNC and UVa with no likely letters from either school.

there is NO consistency in these matters.....

College admission decisions are random, so don't take it personally. As hard as this sounds, just wait until you get your decision letter.

Just got one today :) After hearing from Rice and W&M, I was a little puzzled that I hadn't heard from UVA, but now I have, so I'm happy!

Received a likely letter today from UVA!!!

i just have a question for the SAT scoring at UVA. If someone takes the SAT more than twice, does UVA average out the scores per section, or just take the best one?

it's the composite score dardardelight, or else there is no way I would have gotten a likely letter

so you're saying that they just take the best score per section, even on a third or fourth try at the SAT?

That's what I'm saying. But I'm not exactly making the decisions here so my word means nothing.
