I'm not sure how to take this...Is this a likely letter or something sent to everyone? Who else got this email? (It turned up in my spam).

Dear Kevin:

We have received your application to UCLA's Henry Samueli School of
Engineering and Applied Science (HSSEAS). Your application is among those
which I consider highly competitive. However, it is still too soon for
admission decisions to be announced. To learn of the official decision,
check the Undergraduate and Admissions and Relations with Schools (UARS)
website UCLA Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools: Decision Notification in late March. You will
receive an email from UARS when decisions are available online.

The purpose of this letter is to make you aware of an important event for
applicants interested in learning more about the wonderful educational
experience HSSEAS and UCLA have to offer.

And it goes on to invite me to this engineering open house (which I won't be able to attend since I'm in St. Louis).

wow UCLA got cheap this year, didn't even send regular mail... i wouldn't say 100% in because i heard every year there are a couple that get the letter and don't get in... but i think as long as you don't screw up you should be fine... also i would rather wait til the official acceptance before celebrating... like last year i didn't even tell my parents about the letter because what if you don't get in after all... horrifiying thought lol

EDIT: Anyone curious about stats, a rough outline:
Canadian
2250 Single Sitting SAT (780M/750R/730W)
~95% average for 9-11, 98.125% for 11 only
Most likely Valedictorian (school doesn't officially rank)
ECs include band, Reach for the Top (Trivia), a little bit of volunteering, Math contests (best award is gold medal on COMC, which about 100 people get nationally)

I got one too. I hope I get accepted. Although UCLA is not might first choice school, I would love to say I got in. It's a REALLY competitive school to get into.
