If you don't get a likely letter, then does it mean you got rejected? My friend got a likely letter, but all I got was the bright yellow card, so I'm kind of bummed... thanks.

No, it doesn't necessarily mean you got rejected.

Yeah, it doesn't mean you got rejected at all.....I just got the postcard as well and it's because Vandy didn't have my application complete :/......

We received the yellow card some time ago, maybe 2 weeks ago. When did your friend received the likely letter?

I agree that not receiving one may not mean a rejection, but nonetheless, it must mean something. Otherwise, why would an applicant receive one and not another? I find it hard to believe that an university like Vanderbilt would send those randomly.

What is the yellow card?

I've received nothing from them. LOL, now I've got to worry that I didn't get a yellow card?

The yellow card is to let you know that your application is complete. We received it around Feb 10, but our application had been completed since Jan 15 (which was the deadline for regular applicant). Maybe we received the yellow card after they received the mid-year report from the high school.

Hmm. I e-mailed the Admission rep with a question about my app on the 9th and she said that they had all documents.

As for the midyear report, I did send one but I understand that they do not require it.

Oh well, who knows what it all means.

I sent in my app in October (RD) but did not get a yellow card until this week. My friend sent her app in December (also RD) and just got her likely letter this week. We have the same ethnicity, similar stats, so I'm confused why she got a letter and I didn't... ah well.

what is a likely letter? what does it say?

A likely letter is an early notification of acceptance because the university really wants you to attend, although you don't receive your official acceptance packet until April 1. Vandy applicants who received likely letters were also invited to attend the Mosaic Multicultural Weekend in March. If you haven't received one, it doesn't mean that you've been rejected...only a handful of people get likely letters.

do Cornelius Vanderbilt Finalists get likelies?
