I’ve seen the mention of likely letters all over the forum, but I don’t knowexactly what they are. I just got a letter from Upenn saying that “Im likely to be a strong candidate for admission”; is that what a likely letter is? If it’s not, then I’ll feel pretty stupid and you can merely ignore this thread : ). I’m not sure if this is the standard “look at our college” mail, or if its something slightly more meaningful than that. Thanks.

ETA: Uhm. I think I got confused. Likely letters are only sent out after you apply right? Damn, I feel dumb now. lol

it's ok...i got a 2 page letter from harvard commending me and strongly encouraging me to apply...ONLY to get rejected

oh well. UPENN '08

the letter you recieved from penn is the same letter you will probably end up recieving from harvard, yale, northwestern, washu, etc . . . It just means that your psat scores were above 200 or so and those letters are mailed out to every students who does so. A likely letter is a letter that comes in march from a school saying that you will likely be admitted into that school in april.

Ohh ok. Thanks, at least now I know. That sucks NYC, but hey, Upenn is Upenn! Congrats!

thanks man...keep your head up in the application process. you can make it to Penn!!!
