Likely Letter

Any others out there with ‘likely’ status? I just got a letter in the mail today. So exciting: “you can assume your likely status means you will be admitted to Brown if you maintain your current record of achievement. You should know this communication, from our perspective, carries the same commitment, and is subject to the same conditions, as a letter of admission.”

Wow, congratulations! No likely letter here, unfortunately. Do you mind sharing some of your stats?

Congrats!

No likely here, either. Though, I think I read a thread way back here that said something about them only mailing out 100 or so to more non-traditional type kids (ie, homeschooled, etc.)

Thanks! Not at all. SAT1: 2400; SAT2 Math II: 800; SAT2 Chem: 780; GPA: 4.07/5; APs: 8 5s and one 3. EAs are mostly math, science, and programming clubs and competitions. I also coach a middle school math team, develop games, play tennis, and run xc/track.

[CC ought to have a feature for posting your stats once in a central location so that people can look them up instead of asking for them in so many different threads, no? Edit: Never mind. Right after I posted I saw a button labelled ‘applicant stats’. I’ll have to check that out. I didn’t know it existed.]

beebs14: Its called a stats profile! You can actually create one, if you so desire.

Same here!!

That’s so exciting, congrats!

Great job guys =]

Beebs, are you planning on majoring in CompSci? CS at Brown is really awesome - see more in my pm!

Hi. I’m new to the forum. I was surprised to read about Brown sending out a likely letter. I thought that Brown didn’t send likely letters??? Please let me know about that. Thanks.

Brown only sends likely letters to a few students each year (~100). Most of these are athletes, but a few are some of the top Academic applicants that they really, really want to attend. Likelies are their way of winning over these applicants before other schools do. Most accepted students do not receive likelies.

Thanks floating river. appreciate the info!

I wasn’t aware that mail came on Sundays.

^ roflcopter.

It doesn’t - the OP and the other poster received their letters on Saturday.

Congrats!(^o^)/~It’s really nice to hear that

Congratulations! I’m sure all of us wish we’d gotten em too, but thats life :)

I just received a likely letter today! My second over all :D

^
Where else did you get one from and congrats

^^^looks like Columbia. See stats on his post #340 from “OMG I’m in” thread. How did you get a likely? Lucky you!

Which one will you choose, nk?
