Hi all! I am applied to a couple of schools and on the application where people list sports and achievements, i was wondering if it would have been better to put all the awards I have won and all the races I have won (I'm a swimmer....) or if that would just rub the AOs the wrong way and look like I was trying too hard. Anything would be appreciated!

put it in, because everyone else probably does the same thing…

I would contact the swim coach to make him or her aware of your application.
(are you looking at Mercersburg?)

zp

I think zuzu has a good point.

A swim coach would be interested in (for example) a list of 10 meets, with 5 races each, with exact times and splits for each race, and how you placed.

An AO would probably look at that as overkill. Could you summarize it and still leave in the most important things?

I did write that i was on the junior olympic team 7/9 years and it also asks for how many hours a week that’s put in and I put 15 so hopefully they will interpret from that as to how big a part of my life it is.

Do you have one or two major awards that would sum up your overall achievement? Sometimes, when you’re winning a medal at almost every meet, it can be too much to list every award–but saying that you placed 2nd in the District finals would make it clear that you must have placed in lots of other races along the way. End of season events are often good for this–though I’m not familiar with swimming competition.

The others are right that contacting the swim coach is a good idea–you could send a summary of your results to him/her–or, better yet, a link if they’re summarized somewhere on the web.
