My son started taking community college courses in 6th grade. He took about 5 courses before he finished 8th grade and got A's on all but Algebra. I think he was 11 when he took Algebra and he got a B so his GPA at the college is now 3.76 versus his HS gpa which is 4.0(UW). He is a senior now and is working on his applications and I don't know what to tell him to do!

What looks better? Taking these classes at such an early age or not including them at all? I think they ask for all college transcripts? We don't know what is best and met with the guidance counselor who didn't know either because of the "unique" situation. His school doesn't allow credit for college courses until 9th grade so they are not on his HS transcript. The classes are composition, literature, etc., not "fluff" courses and are all transferable. Will colleges even notice that he was so young?

One person told us just to wait and then turn in the transcripts for credit after being accepted to college. (Can you do that if they want all transcripts?) Another told us it would look "really good" and we should add them in to the application. They told him he should write a story about taking the college classes somewhere on his application like when he had a group project and they made him the group leader when he was in 6th grade.

So far, HS and College transcripts are separate but now he might take another college course this year and then we'd HAVE to show the classes. Should he avoid this and not take the college class? Right now he has 5AP classes but because of the AP schedule spacing, he has to be at school really long, all 7 periods starting at 6:30!, and has two "filler" classes because there isn't anything else to take. If he took the college class, one night per week for just one semester, he could be out at lunch and still have 4 APs.

Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.
