literature

So anyway I can study for SAT II's in literature by May 5. Any good books for quick studying? I have REA's AP US History book for the US History subject tests since I am taking the AP also. Is literature extremely hard? Tips please...

From what I've heard it's the hardest subject.
One might expect an easy 800 from Reasoning SAT before shooting for 650-700 on Literature sSAT.

Yikes! I dont know why I should take then. I was going to take Math I but I am only in Algebra 2/Trig

Any more opinions?

Basically you're either good at this test or not. Very little way to prepare for it over the short term. Take a practice test, see how you do. If you break 700, consider taking it for the May deadline. If not, well then, ask yourself what you're shooting for. Preparing for this test will get you only a minimal increase in score.

I got an 800 on this, and it's most likely because I read and write (with the goal of publication) ALL THE TIME and have for years. However, from my POV, I still think there are some things you can do to help yourself. Also, I think people find this test so hard because, hey, literature is interpretive. Sometimes there just isn't a right answer. But you can still study for certain aspects.

1) Find some old versions of the test or get practice tests from SparkNotes or whatnot. The former is better, obviously, but either will do.

2) I know they're two different tests, but I think the Kaplan AP Lit prep book is pretty awesome and will help you with the SAT Lit test.

3) Go get the following books and read through them even if it eats up your free time:

Reading Like a Writer:

How to Read Literature Like a Professor:

If you don't have much time, just skim the second and read the first more in depth. Reading Like a Writer needs more attention in order to take it all in.

Honestly, if high school teachers handed out those two books, everybody's lives would be much easier when it comes to English class.
