Living and Learning Communities + Housing

I got accepted to the Honors Community so I know I will have to live in Middlebrook. Am I limited to a double (as stated at the U of M site) or can I still get a suite? The main reason I want a suite is so that I don't share a bathroom with too many people.

You are not required to live at Middlebrook. The honors LLC is at Middlebrook. My son is in honors and lives at Frontier (Engineering LLC). He is in a suite and shares the bathroom with 3 other students. The one negative thing about the suite is the students are responsible for cleaning the bathroom :(

As far as I know, all the doubles at Middlebrook are semi-private, which means you share the bathroom with only 4 students. I think its almost the same with the suites except for the sink.

Thanks so much for the new information! Which house would be the best for a Chemical Engineering student, Frontier or Middlebrook?

It depends upon what you want – do you want to live in the Honors LLC or do you want to live at the Engineering LLC at Frontier? Although most kids would say the walk over the bridge from the West Bank to the East Bank is fine – I can’t imagine doing it in the minus degree weather (though you can take the bus and the light rail once it opens). There are plenty of studious students at Frontier especially those in the Engineering LLC. I’m sure wherever you end up, you will make friends and hopefully enjoy the “dorm experience”. :)

You will have a ton of other Chem E students in Middlebrook so I suggest you live there.

In the Honors LLC at Middlebrook there are singles, doubles, and suites available so the faster you put in your application, the more likely you are to get a suite.
