Living at UCSB - when to move in?

I'm a recently accepted grad student and I'm looking to move before the school year starts. My lease where I live now (outskirts of LA) ends RIGHT when summer begins, so I'm debating if I should move out at the beginning or end of the summer. I feel like the beginning of the summer will have better options for housing, as people leave, versus trying to move in a month before school starts. But at the same time, I'm not sure about jobs. I'll be looking for a job as well and I'm not sure if there will be more or less at the beginning of summer. I'd love the time to get to know the area and the rent is generally cheaper than where I live now ($950 for a studio) so I'm super tempted, I just want to get some ideas first.
Thanks!

Call their career services center about jobs and look at getting one, then if you do, move in early? I agree people will be ending and trying to get out of leases.
