I wanted to know what were your opinions about living off campus. Is it worth it? Do you really MISS out on the college experience by not living in a dorm?

I am now considering moving off campus after the summer due to the fact that:

It is cheaper

I got a brand new puppy for Christmas and I really want to take him with me!

Same here, I'm gonna live on campus for the Summer B term, and while Im there, I'm gonna be looking at apartments for my coming up fall and spring terms, possibly renting a place on Gainesville's Place.

Personally, I think that you definitely do miss part of the college experience by not living in the dorm. However, it's up to you to decide if that's part of the college experience that you really want. It's not going to help you much to think that you're getting an "experience" if you're completely miserable in the dorm.

It's definitely possible to be perfectly happy and have a great college experience by living off-campus. I know some people who have done that and never regretted it, and I also know some who wished they lived on campus for at least a year. (Summer session is so different from the regular academic year that it doesn't really give you the whole picture.) It's up to you to evaluate your personality and your options and determine the best fit. Good luck! :)

I'm still undecided about what I want to do. I understand the whole miss out experience but the pros seem to overweight the cons....frustated

I think living on campus is a huge part of the freshman college experience...plus I love the convenience of being on campus. I know I met a lot of my friends here in my dorm, but if you already have a good group of friends, living off campus may not really be that bad for your first year.
