<p>Hi, Could current students here maybe tell me something about the Connected Learning LLC in the Cobb? </p>
<p>I am an incoming freshman and I am an international student. I applied Connected Learning when I applied housing and I got in.I heard that most freshman live on south campus. So , I am afraid I would be a little bit lonely if I choose to live in Cobb, which is on North campus. Also, does anyone here know much about the connected learning ?</p>

<p>I know the learning communities in general are good - you’re forced to do things with your hall/the other people in the learning community, so you could definitely make friends. Even though most freshman do live on South Campus, South Campus has major cons (the distance alone was a major pain). And Cobb is a really nice dorm in a super pretty part of campus, so nice going there!</p>

<p>I don’t think it would be much of an issue… I think UNC puts an equal amount of freshmen in learning communities, so there is no way you would be the only freshman. I had friends live in a learning community in McIver, and I think everyone on their hall was the same year. I’m sure you will have things in common with other freshmen who also chose to live in your learning community. : )</p>
<p>Note that many people complain that south campus is a long walk away.</p>
<p>For Americans, this is likely true. But if you are from a country where walking is more common, you will likely consider it conveniently close.</p>
<p>You may not know this, but in Chapel Hill they have drive-thru ATMs…</p>
<p>Sanduo I will be a freshman on N campus and my roommate will be too. In my LLC I found out that 35% of the members are freshman, I would expect a similar ratio in other LLC’s.</p>

<p>Yes, it’s true, my weak American legs couldn’t handle a 15-20 minute uphill walk every morning to make it to 8AM class… I’m still trying to live with myself. ; )</p>

<p>You are going to LOVE the CLP. I did it last year (my first year) and I’m coming back next year as a project mentor. I had no problem meeting fellow first-years and I would say they make up the majority of the CLP. It was really social last year and I know most of the people repeating it in the fall and we plan to keep it lively and really build the sense of community. Cobb is a really great dorm with nice amenities. What project are you doing?</p>

<p>I am in a triple room with two locals. I am excited. I am glad that it is social and I look forward to going there. </p>
<p>I like the public education one, and the dancing one.</p>
<p>I was in a triple my first year too and I loved it! My roommates and I had so much fun together even though we weren’t expecting to live with two other people. The triples are huge compared to the doubles. We all lofted our beds and put our desks and dressers under them and we had room for a couch and a bunch of shelves that we filled with food. The triples are on the corners so they have two window and are right by the exits. They’re quieter too since you only have another room on one side. If you don’t mind me asking, are you male or female? If you’re a girl you might be my neighbor! I’m living right beside the triple I stayed in last year. Both of those projects sound great! I know the people doing the education one and they’re a lot of fun… I don’t remember who is doing the dancing project right off the top of my head but I’m sure they’re great too! I’m running the eco-art project. I posted some more information in another thread titled “Cobb, Connected Learning” (I think) about time commitments and such if you’re interested. If you have any other questions about it, feel free to ask!</p>
<p>For your sake, I hope the other two girls/guys in your triple don’t already know each other… LOL. Yes, triples are huge!</p>
