LMU Fall 2016 Transfer

Do you think we will be hearing back by the end of this week? The national deadline is May 1, but this is my top school so I don’t want to commit to another one without hearing from LMU. I don’t know what to do

@linds311 From what I’ve seen on other threads if people didn’t hear by May 1, they heard within the week after.

I was wondering if anyone here knows about impacted majors at LMU or if anyone can tell me my chances? I really haven’t been able to find a lot of stats about transfers so I really honestly don’t have any idea what my chances are.

I applied to transfer in as a Junior. I have a 3.38 GPA (from an out of state junior college) and after this semester I’ll have about 70 credits, and I applied as a Computer Science Major. I thought that my GPA is too low because Computer Science is generally an impacted major and is difficult to get into, but I was looking at the most popular majors at LMU and it said that they are Business/Commerce, General; Visual and Performing Arts, General; Social Sciences, General; and Biology/Biological Sciences, General. Computer Science doesn’t seem to be very popular so I was wondering if that helps my chances.

Still haven’t heard back, my application has been under review for like 2 months and I turned it in on February 1, so I really don’t think that they actually review them on a rolling basis because people turned their applications in way after me and already have their decisions.

I just know majority of students who apply to LMU are business, film, or communication studies majors. I don’t think Computer Science is an impacted major. Also, I find it odd how you still haven’t heard back from the school. @ctehin

Have you heard back yet? @linds311

@kesprxt I just received an email saying they needed more information in order to make a decision. They requested that I send my spring grades but my semester doesn’t end until mid June.

@kesprxt were you asked to do the same?

Has anyone actually been rejected yet or does your status just still say “under review”?

I called admissions and asked why they needed to see my spring grades and she said that I have been deferred and they want to see more before they can make a decision. I guess the major I applied for was a little more competitive and a 3.6 gpa isn’t as high as they’d like? I’m also a part of the scholars program at my current college and work two part time jobs. In addition to that I have several community service hours and extra curriculars. Hoping for the best at this point:/

@linds311 what was the major that you applied under?

@linds311 does your app still say “under review” on my paw or does it show you’ve been deferred?

I’m finishing up my freshmen year of college with a 3.9 GPA and I submitted my application in late February. Still haven’t heard anything.

I’m just confused because the day we are supposed to hear back is May 1st, which is a Sunday, and the admissions office is not open then and there’s no post on Sunday either. So wouldn’t today technically be the deadline for when we should all hear back?

@cranberries21 when I called the admissions office earlier this week they said that I would hear by then end of this week or next week. Looks like we’ll have to do some extra waiting.

also when i was looking at other threads, some people didn’t hear back until late may or early june, and one person I saw didn’t hear until june 27th… man that’s awful. It’s really aggravating, if that happens i’ll probably go crazy from waiting. was supposed to have my decision by march 15th…

Is LMU your guys’ first choice?

it is mine

@cranberries21 my my paw account still says under review. the major I applied for was health and human science. I also read somewhere on their transfer website under “additional guidelines” that applicants who applied as a freshman, but who weren’t initially accepted, also required transcripts from their latest semester before the time they plan to transfer. I applied my senior year of high school as a freshman and was denied admission so I want to hope that that has something to do with it. In the meantime, I’m comitting to Pepperdine until I hear otherwise from LMU. Good luck to you all!

@vandiaiba I applied for health and human science

@linds311 Thank you! Hope you get in!
